Electric Dreams is a collaborative band I am in, along with fellow Zinc bandmate Andrew Madec and four musicians supported by That’s Life.
Electric Dreams is truly a band like no other, carving out a vibrant space in the Irish music scene since 2015. As a flagship project of That’s Life arts program for adults with intellectual disabilities, Electric Dreams showcases the exceeding talent of four core musicians; Elizabeth (vocals),
Karen (keyboard), Martin (guitar) and Tiago (drums), supported by musicians Andrew (bass) and Aengus (guitar). Together they’ve crafted a sound which is uniquely theirs – bold, relatable, and bursting with energy.
Their creative process is a true collaboration, with the band co-writing all their music and lyrics. Drawing from themes which resonate deeply – like adventure, favourite animals, frustration and the pursuit of dreams – Electric Dreams infuses every song with a positive vibe and a message of inclusion and joy for life. Their music fuses electronic elements, catchy synth hooks and irresistible grooves, creating a sound that’s both fresh and familiar.
Electric Dreams made their mark with the release of their debut EP ‘Positive’ in 2016, followed by a full-length album ‘Behind The Mask’ in 2020. Now they’re back in the studio, working on their highly anticipated second album. The band have rocked stages at festivals such as Carlow Arts Festival, Dublin Dance Festival, Going Coastal and have become a staple at Bounce, a popular club night for adults with intellectual disabilities at the iconic Roisin Dubh in Galway City.
Electric Dreams is more than just a band – they’re a symbol of what can be achieved in the disability arts scene with the right support and opportunities. They’re on a mission to spread their inclusive message, seeking performance opportunities to share their infectious sound and inspiring journey.
